On 28 September 2026, Mohammad Sorowar Hossain, a notorious right-wing anti-LGBTQI+ leader in Bangladesh, published a post on his verified Facebook account condemning separate meetings between Alex Soros and Bangladeshi Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman. He shared a photocard bearing the headline “LGBTQ Lobby Financier Alex Soros Holds Talks With Tarique, Khalil,” featuring photographs of Alex Soros meeting the two Bangladeshi political leaders. Alongside the photocard, Hossain wrote, “নিন্দা জানিয়ে রাখলাম” (I hereby express my condemnation). The shared photocard portrayed Alex Soros in connection with the financing of LGBTQI+ rights movements.

In the comment section of the same Facebook post, Mohammad Sorowar Hossain made antisemitic remarks by explicitly associating George Soros’s Jewish identity with derogatory language. (Our Prime Minister has also met Alex Soros, the son of the notorious Jewish George Soros! Their organisation, Open Society Foundations, is known for promoting LGBT worldwide.) His use of the phrase “কুখ্যাত ইহুদি” (notorious Jew) was particularly significant. By combining a derogatory description with George Soros’s Jewish identity, Hossain introduced antisemitic framing into his criticism. Rather than limiting his remarks to George Soros’s political activities or the organisation’s funding practices, he explicitly highlighted Soros’s Jewish identity as part of his condemnation. He also invoked George Soros’s Jewish identity while criticising the meeting between Alex Soros and the Bangladeshi Prime Minister.
In the same comment, Mohammad Sorowar Hossain further claimed that Dr Muhammad Yunus had arranged a meeting between Alex Soros and representatives of the National Citizen Party (NCP). He also wrote, “তাদের সব ফান্ডিং সমকামিতাবান্ধব নীতির আলোকে দেয়া হয়” (All their funding is provided according to homosexuality-friendly policies). Through these statements, Hossain associated the funding activities of Open Society Foundations with policies supportive of homosexuality while criticising Alex Soros’s engagement with Bangladesh’s political leadership. His Facebook post and accompanying comment presented LGBTQI+ rights-related issues negatively while using George Soros’s Jewish identity as an element of derogatory characterisation. These statements were documented in screenshots of the Facebook post and its comment section published on 28 September 2026.
