Five young men were assaulted and detained by local residents in the Karmtola area of Pubail, Gazipur, following allegations of homosexuality, before being taken into police custody. According to media reports, the five had become acquainted online and gathered at a rented house belonging to Ahsan Habib Rubel in Karmtola. During the night, an argument and altercation inside the house drew the attention of the landlord and local residents, who entered the premises and questioned them. After allegations of homosexuality emerged during the questioning, local residents beat the five young men and detained them at the scene. Media reports identified the five as Md Moshiur Rahman, 19; Md Aminul Islam, 25; Md Nazmul Islam, 19; Golam Rabbi, 18; and Arafat Sikder, 19.

After receiving information about the incident, police from Pubail Police Station arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control. As the five had sustained injuries in the assault, police took them to Shaheed Ahsanullah Master General Hospital in Tongi for medical treatment and subsequently took them to Pubail Police Station. Despite no written complaint being filed against them at the police station, police arrested all five under Section 151 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and sent them to court. Pubail Police Station Sub-Inspector Nazmul Hossain told the media that police had brought the five men from the scene, arranged medical treatment for them and later sent them to court under the law.
